Our Passion for Giving Back

We love giving back to our community! Collins Law is proud to donate $4,000 to United Way of Central Alabama, an organization that works alongside partner agencies that serve our neighbors in meaningful, impactful ways.

To make this gift even more personal, we divided the donation into $500 per team member and asked each person to choose which agency they’d like their portion to support. Here were their picks.

Thank you to the people we serve. Your trust and support made this donation possible. We’re always thinking of you and how we can better show up for those who need it most.

I would like to donate my $500 to the Legacy YMCA. This place was my home and the people who worked there raised me for the majority of my childhood. My parents were always working to be able to keep us going and so they would just drop my sister and I off there and the workers at the Legacy YMCA never gave them or us a hard time. They fed us, let us hop into the camps with other kids that we weren’t signed up for, encouraged us to play sports, and loved us all when they didn’t have to. I learned from the camp counselors and coaches how to be a strong-willed individual and taught me to never allow my circumstances to dictate my future and who I am!

I would like to donate mine to Concerned Citizens for Our Youth, Inc. I’m honored to support this agency and its mission to empower young women in need with healing, stability, and opportunity. I’m so grateful for the life-changing work they do!

I would like to donate my $500 to American Heart Associations, Inc. because heart health has affected people I love, and contributing feels like a meaningful way to make a difference. Since heart disease touches so many families throughout the community, I would like to continue to support research, prevention, and education that can help save lives. I won’t get on my soap box, but please make sure you know CPR for adults, infants, and children. You never know when your efforts can help save a life!

I would like to donate my $500 to Childcare Resources, because as a first-time mom in a state with no help, I know how hard it can be to maneuver through life with a child/children.

I would like to choose Arc of Central AL! They provide social, job, and community opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. They provide the kind of support and activities that we often take for granted, but are crucial for fulfillment and enjoyment of life. Through my mom (a career special ed teacher) I have seen the seclusion/isolation that can happen when community/governmental support needs are overlooked, and how much work it takes to set up programs to help. The Arc has such a great program setup in Central AL, and continues to expand to other areas of AL that need it. PLUS, the parties are big-fun, and one of the only times you might catch me on the dance floor!

I would like to donate my $500 to Girls Inc of Central Alabama. Back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s there was a location in my hometown. I saw the great impact it had on the young ladies in the community as well as myself. They provided extracurricular learning opportunities and life skills that may not have been available otherwise. This is where we learned that girls are strong, smart, and BOLD!

It was hard to choose just once since I have participated in a few of these programs, but I would like to allocate my $500 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Alabama. When I was in elementary school, I was able to take part in this program even though I have 2 older siblings. Since this program was set up through my school, my “big sister” was able to come & have special lunches with me & help me with my homework. She was an additional listening ear outside of my village. Kids are the future, so I believe having a mentor at a young age is important. In today’s society, these kids are growing up wayyyyy different than we may have grown up. Having those mentors in place can help steer a child down the right path because it does take a village.

I will donate my $500 to the AG Gaston Boys and Girls Club.  The Boys and Girls Club was like a second home to me growing up.  I was selected as the Club’s Youth of the Year and was able to take part in so many activities that I would not have been able to had I not been a part of the Club.  I remember advocating for the Club in front of city council members urging them to earmark money for the club so that we could operate.  I also spoke to community leaders often on behalf of the club as a young girl.  It helped me overcome my fear of public speaking (just a little bit – still struggle with it sometimes lol).  I donate to the Athens Club (where I am from) regularly so I am honored to be able to help the club here locally!

At Collins Law, LLC, we believe everyone who experiences a personal injustice should be heard. No one should feel powerless against someone whose reckless or careless behavior causes a serious accident. That’s why our mission is to provide accident victims with the personal attention, the legal know-how, and the voice they need to get the compensation they deserve.
